Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages.
1Corinthians 12:28
The beauty of the Body of Christ is that it is diverse, but every part is purposeful. Nothing God does is in vain, a waste of time or without a plan or purpose.
The Gifts of God are not in Vain
There are times when we may feel that we possess no special gift from God – we are blinded by the abilities of others that seem so much more important or in the limelight. God doesn’t see things that way – The Bible says His system is different than ours – better I would add.
Stephanie Gant, Edge’s Administrative Director has a powerful position within Edge without the gifts that most would associate with the program, “Unlike most that are drawn to EDGE I completely lack artistic talent and ability,” she claims by her own admission, “My gifts are much more mundane to most. I am highly gifted in organization, planning, and logistics. I will work behind the scenes supporting the rest of the staff and fine tuning our processes for future years.”
“Without a plan the people perish”
Every organization, whether creatively minded or not, would be lost without someone in possession of Stephanie’s gifts. Today I heard the quote, “Without a plan, an idea is just a dream.” That is precisely where Edge would be without the administrative gifts that she brings to the table.
From a Distance
Never having experienced Edge first hand, and this being her first summer on board, her fresh perspective from the rim of the program will provide Arianna and the board with a view not able to be seen by those who are too closeup to see the big picture.
Her perspective so far, “I think EDGE is important because it allows people a space to grow in community and faith while sharing God’s love with the people in Altea. I heard about EDGE from a friend a few years ago and knew when she approached me about joining the team this year, that it was something I wanted to be a part of because of the amazing experience she had.”
The far reaching influence of Edge is so amazing and spans far beyond those who have lived Edge in Altea themselves. The philosophy fueling Edge Program is echoes in Stephanie’s words, “I have always thought that it is often the creativity in expressing faith that draws people in and it also allows faith to be shared in ways that simply speaking words can’t. I believe that creativity allows a deeper growth in faith and that art is a universal language.”
