February Edge House Party

February 13th was another Edge House Party at Neptune House in San Diego. God brought several new faces, each carrying their own story of healing, openness, and passion for what God is doing through creative vision. Everyone had a lot to give through his or her stories, and at the same, receive from each other.

Two women, made a rather big impression on the night, Rachel and Sheena. Sheena Smith shared her passion for “adjusting people’s physical souls” through chiropractics.

She’s a new member to the community with a drive and desire to use her gift to help and to heal through her touch. Her ambition, intelligence, and vigor are infectious and encouraging. Only in her 20’s, she is a doctor and currently tracking down a location for her practice to help others in the area.  Rachel also blessed us with her testimony of defying all odds with her passion for art and the Muslim community in Morocco. She shared her latest work and some pictures with stories attached of her experiences in Morocco. It was great to celebrate in Rachel’s victory of a completed artistic work, a book now published in both Arabic and English.

Edge House Parties are about meeting others who have an interest in the way God is moving, through creativity, art, or people. A local DJ shared his dream of going to Spain and spinning for the masses, allowing the Spirit to flow through him and into the eager ears of those who listen.  I stood with my shoulder resting up against the wall, looking around the room wondering who would be alongside us in Spain. Two friends, Nate and Sarah, sat on the floor, as their baby was peacefully sleeping in the next room. Jeremy, my roommate, was in the kitchen talking with Shyra about how God has transformed his workshop into an art studio. My friend, Dalex, reclined on the floor with his cabby hat resting just on top of his ears as he listened to everyone’s stories, letting his poetic mind romanticize about a summer in a foreign land.

The evening was a night of peace, gentle celebration, creative exploration, and prayer.  Low lit candles, soft voices, bursts of laughter, and finger foods collided in an eve of somehow, wonderful harmony.  Different minds with various gifts and desires were unified under the same roof and beneath the same night sky with the hopes of what God has in store for them.  Those gifts would hopefully make this world a little smaller, a little more connected, and a little, well… better.

There is no room for fear when you already walk in victory. The world is never too much to save when right where you are is just where you need to be. All you can do means everything to those who have nothing.  There is nothing you can’t do when you have God who made everything.

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency]. –Philippians 4:13 (Amplified Bible)
